SEDE (Scholarly Event Description Ontology)

Scholarly events, such as conferences, workshops, and seminars, are one of major scholarly communication channels. They provide scholars with opportunities to publish up-to-date scientific research results, to get feedback from scientific communities, and to exchange research interest and ideas with each other. Scholarly events demonstrate current research trends, and as such, they are valuable information sources from which researchers can obtain knowledge on research directions and trends.

Research Goal

  • Provide a semantically interoperable descriptional base for scholarly event publishing
  • Faciliate exchanging and sharing of scholarly event information
  • Enable software agents to harvest event data and excavate meaningful information from it.
  • Provide scholars access to relevant scholarly events in their fields, and
  • Enable evaluators to measure and determine the qualities of events and researchers.
